The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health led by the Vice Chairman Hon. Dr. Robert Purkose visited Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) on 3rd February, 2017.

They lawmakers were in the Hospital to inspect the projects funded by the National Government, through the Ministry of Health. They also checked on equipment delivered through the Managed Equipment Service (MES) programme rolled out last year.
Speaking shortly after the visit, Hon. Dr. Purkose said that the committee will ensure that the Government provides funds for the purchase of ICU equipment, Radiotherapy machines and dialysis machines.

"We'll ask the Government to provide additional funds to enable the purchase of key equipment for Cancer, Renal and ICU Services. It's our mandate as a committee to lobby for good services and lessen the burden of patients,” he said.

While making his presentation to the committee, the Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa said that the Hospital is focused on delivering quality superspecialized healthcare services to its clientele and called on the National Government to increase funding to enable expansion of key projects.

Hon. Dr. Purkose also assured that the Committee would champion for release of funds for recruitment of more personnel offering specialized services.

The Governor of Uasin Gishu County, H.E. Jackson Mandago and the CEC in-charge of Health, Margaret Chepkwony were also present at the meeting.
