The Management of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, and the Chairman of the Hospital Board, Mr. Adan Abdirahman Hassan inducted newly appointed board members on 8th February, 2017. 

Dr. Dorah Mala and Ms. Florence Lisa Chelimo will each serve a three-year contract.

During the meeting, the Board members were briefed on the Hospital's background, ongoing activities and progress to date and asked to work in tandem to deliver on Hospital's mandate.

The Board Chairman Mr. Hassan said the Hospital Management and the Board place high premium on the work that will be done, reiterating that they should uphold high level of integrity, promote transparency and accountability, improve and bring input for greater achievements and to protect the Hospital image.

"Focus on excellence, stewardship, accountability and observe high morals and ethics for our institution to prosper and for our patients to get quality healthcare services," said Adan.

He added: “a lot is expected from you. Board members need to have a desire to improve the health of the people in this region and your input is very paramount for our success."

He asked the two members to strive to mobilize additional resources for Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).

On his part the Hospital CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa highlighted the Hospital's achievements including purchase of a 32-slice CT Scan machine, functional Health Records Information System (HRIS), operational 70-bed capacity Mental Health ward and ongoing construction of 30-bed ICU and a modern Kitchen and Laundry.

He further said that there are ongoing audits in various units aimed at improving service delivery.

"We requested for ICT, Energy and Legal audits to enable us know where we are and where we are going. Legal audit for example is to guide us in complying with Government policies and the relevant statutes," he said.

Dr. Aruasa added that solar energy installation will be carried out immediately after completion of the energy audit.

The two members assured of their commitment to deliver the best and offer necessary support in providing quality health care for all.
