At least 13 secretaries from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) attended the Kenya National Secretaries Association KENASA Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30th July, 2017 at Co-operative University of Kenya, Nairobi. 

The following members attended the Conference; Naomi Tororei, Alice Muriithi, Lydiah Nabakwe, Betty Jepngetich, Hellen Chumo, Rispa Kosgei, Carolyne Akinyi, Esther Ondogo, Tabitha Muturi, Joan Matelong, Emmy Cheruiyot, Dorcas Keter and Jane Wechuli.

During the meeting, elections were carried out and the following were elected to the KENASA national office; Andrew Osundwa was elected as the National Chairperson.  Mr. Osundwa is a Personal Secretary in the office of Director of Public Prosecution.  Before this election, he was a National Treasurer.  He takes over from Ms. Matilda Anyango , Principal Assistant Office Administrator in Ministry of Planning & Devolution.

Lucy Gitonga, Principal Assistant Office Administrator in Cabinet Office was elected unopposed as the National Vice Chairperson, Ignatius Namuju, Office Administrator in Deputy President’s office was elected as the National Secretary.  Margaret M. Oruko, Senior Assistant Office Administrator in State Department of Immigration was elected unopposed as the National Assistant Secretary. Hellen Ngare, Executive Secretary at Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research & Analysis (KIPPRA) was elected unopposed as the National Treasurer taking over from Mr. Andrew Osundwa. Jacqueline Abilah, Office Administrator in State Law Office was unopposed as the Asst. Treasurer.

The new office bearers take office immediately and it is expected that the Office Administrators Profession Act Bill will be passed in the next National Assembly.  As at now the Bill is still in the Draft form and the office bearers were urged to speed up the process of putting it in its final form.

Should the Office Administrators Profession Act said through, there will be no quack Office Administrators (Secretaries - this new title was changed by October, 2015 vide the Approved Revised Scheme of Service for Office Administrative Services Personnel). 

The MTRH Secretaries expressed their gratitude to the MTRH CEO, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, for facilitating them to attend the meeting saying that it demonstrated a good  gesture towards the profession.
