Psychological Counseling department at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) has held a three -day counseling camp to cater for Eldoret residents and its environs.

The forum was aimed at imparting participants with skills to combat stress in their lives. Members of the public also interacted with counselors whose experiences and vigor benefited them.

The session, according to the Assistant Deputy Director Clinical Services (ADDCS), Dr. Wilson Aruasa, will eradicate rampant ignorance and fear among the public.

Dr Aruasa who was speaking shortly after opening of the camp said that MTRH does not only offer Clinical healthcare but also Psychological Care.

In a speech read for him by Dr. Benjamin Chemwolo, he said the Hospital now boasts of a Psychological Counseling strategy that brings together Psychological Care and a team of seasoned Counselors.

The session was also meant to address Psychological wellbeing of the people, an issue that has been overshadowed by the overconcentration on communicable diseases.

The camp also provided the Hospital’s Psychological Counselors an opportunity to network with other professionals and help stamp-out stress concerns that affect people in society.

Dr Aruasa urged the Psychological Counseling department to run the camp on an annual basis so as to give people the chance to manage stress that they continually encountered in their lives.
