Hospital Commissions Pneumatic Drill for Orthopaedics
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) has commissioned Pneumatic Drills which will be used by the Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Theatre.The drills, acquired at Kshs. 3.6 million, were supplied by Technoserve Limited.
Speaking after commissioning the Pneumatic Drills, the Hospital’s Director, Dr. John Kibosia said that the machine will go a long way in alleviating Orthopaedic cases at the Theatre. The drill will speed up the fixing of the bones as it will usher in a milestone in the history of the Orthopaedics in the Hospital.
“With many cases we see within the facility especially related to Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs), the drill will help a lot,” he said.The Hospital CEO informed the audience that plans were underway to modernize the facility particularly the theatres.
“If we have to be a fully-fledged referral facility, this [modernizing of our facilities] is the surest way to go. We will increase specialists to cope with diverse specialties.”
Orthopaedics cases are operated daily at MTRH.
