NACADA Officials Visit Hospital
The National Campaign Against Drug Abuse Authority (NACADA) has commended Alcoholic and Drug Abuse (ADA) Unit of the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for the multi-disciplinary approach to alcohol and drug abuse management in the region.
This was revealed by Prof. Catherine Gachutha, NACADA Senior Consultant, when she visited the Hospital to evaluate ADA Unit’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documentation for accreditation as per NACADA Act, 2012.
While meeting the team at his office on September 13, 2012, Dr. John Kibosia, the Hospital’s Director emphasized on the importance of partnership.
“We value partnership as it has helped us in the expansion of facility and services thus enhancing standards. This has pushed us to be a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the provision of healthcare, training and research.”
Prof. Gachutha lauded the Hospital for the good team it has in the treatment and management of cases related to drug abuse in the institution and urged MTRH to put more effort in outreaches and after-care management.
Present during the exercise were: Dr. Wilson Aruasa, Assistant Deputy Director in charge of Clinical Services and in charge of Quality Management Systems, Mr. George Murimi, NACADA’s Treatment and Rehabilitation Programme Manager and Ms. Jane Kariuki, Chair, Division of Clinical Support Services at the Hospital.
