Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital is conducting a three-day Internal Quality Auditor’s training that will be facilitated by officers’ from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

This follows the recertification of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) and certification of the ISO 13485:2007, a standard for medical devices, for the Intravenous Fluids Production Unit (IVPU) at the Manufacturing Unit.

The invitation letter for the 25 trainees signed by the Hospital’s Quality Management Representative (QMR), Dr. Wilson Aruasa reads in part: “ following the Hospital’s successful recertification to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, it is important that this is system be sustained and monitored through regular Internal Quality Audits.”

According to Dr. Aruasa, who is also the Assistant Deputy Director Clinical Services (ADDCS) this is a unique opportunity aimed at empowering the auditors to ensure that they steer the institution to higher levels of quality healthcare delivery, training and research.

The training runs from 18th July, 2012 to 20th July, 2012 at the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre (RBTC) Conference Room.

This comes a day after the refresher course for the Hospital’s Internal Quality Auditor’s (IQA).

The Deputy Director Administration and Finance (DDA&F) Agunda Ochanda opened the fourth cycle of the IQA training.

He said that the training was a welcome development in the institution since it will ensure continual improvement which will ultimately translate into quality service delivery for the clients’.
